Google has initiated external testing of its new multimodal AI model, “Gemini”, aiming to rival OpenAI’s GPT-4.
As per sources from The Information, a select group of companies have been granted access to a basic chat version of Gemini. The most extensive version of Gemini is still under internal development.
Indications suggest that the official launch of Gemini is imminent, with Google previously hinting at a release this year. The AI model will be available to businesses through cloud access and will be incorporated into various Google consumer products.
One tester highlighted Gemini’s potential edge over GPT-4, as it can process data from Google’s products, potentially leading to better user intent understanding and fewer errors.
